Meeting was brought to order by the Chairman at 7:05 PM.
Dog Park Construction
Board was informed that the plan was submitted to the DCNR for review. One copy of the submitted plan and construction documents were received by the Township.
Eagle Scout Projects -
- Matthew Souder – Benches at Wayland Park – Kevin advised that Matt was still proceeding with the project of park benches for Wayland Park. Project to be kept on the agenda for updates.
Frisbee Golf – Wayland Park
Steve contacted New Hanover Township regarding the possible purchase of their Frisbee Golf equipment. He was informed that the New Hanover Township will be using the equipment and have ordered additional equipment.
Christmas Tree Pick-Up – January 7, 2017
Pick-up area is Perkiomen Crossing, Ivy Ridge and Clover Lane. Residents are to have their undecorated trees at curbside by 9:00 AM. Use of one Township truck and trailer is being requested. Informational signs regarding the pick-up event will be placed during Christmas week. Parks Board will meet in the Township parking lot at 8:30 AM. Steve will not be available to assist on the 7th.
Swamp Creek Stomp – 5K/10K Run – April 1, 2017
Kevin has checked out the trail areas for possible extension. Areas around the Keenan property and the gun club are possibilities. Kevin hopes to schedule the week between Christmas and New Years to walk the trail and check into trail extension possibilities. John and Steve are available to assist that week. Kevin is working on the on-line registration set up. Hoping to launch on January 1, 2017. Pretzel City contract for advertising has been received. Kevin will forward to Jackie. Medals left over from last year – obtain new ribbons for 2017 and possibly combining some of the age groupings to lower the number of medals needed for the 10K. Raffle items were discussed. Jon researched on-line free advertising for the run. It is available through many of the running web links. Kevin will connect to the links. Check into purchase, borrow or rental of a small generator to allow hot beverages to be available at the run. Other minor issues were discussed.
Beaver has migrated towards Camp Laughing Water and Lower Merion Gun Club. Downed trees show travel route. Gaming Commission needs to be notified. Ed will contact gun club member to advise of the beaver issue and possibility of trapping the animal(s) on their property.
Sunrise Trail/Swamp Creek Greenway Site Tour – December 12, 2016
Kevin attended and reported on the December 12th site tour. Next meeting of the Steering Committee is scheduled for January 4, 2017 at Lower Frederick Township building from 10:00 – 12 pm. Kevin is planning to attend. Rob Keenan to be approached to see if he would be interested in attending as a Parks Board member. Public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Location to be determined.
The next Parks Board meeting will be held on January 17, 2017 at 7:00 PM.
The January 12, 2017 Board of Supervisors Meeting will be attended by Steve.
Ed motioned and Kevin seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm. Motion was approved by all.
